PICK THE RIGHT HAMMOCK
You want the most comfortable, the widest, the strongest, the most weatherproof and the most Ethical of all hammocks ? You are at the right place.
Let's start with a few questions;
1) INSIDE OR OUTSIDE
All hammocks can be installed outside but, although they are the most comfortable, cotton hammocks can't stay longtime under rain. Cotton is a live material that need to be removed after usage and to dry well. They are the best choice for inside usage. For the outside I have a wide variety of fabric or string weatherproof hammocks to choose from.
- Inside: cotton
- Ouside: Weather proof material (cotton if removed after usage)
2) SIZE
The best position to be comfortable in a traditionnal hammock is lying diagonally, at a 30 to 45 degrees angle. this way your back will be more straight and you will fall asleep in no time. This is why the width of the hammock is more important than the length. Don't just rely on the name they are given but look at the real sizes.
FOR SOUTH AMERICAN HAMMOCKS:
SINGLE; 140cm (55 inches) wide,
DOUBLE: 160cm (63 inches)
KING SIZE: 170cm (67 inches) and 180cm (71 inches)
Most company offering Chinese hammocks will call as a double their hammocks measuring a maximum of 150cm (59 inches). Hammocks 130cm or less are for kids.
SO DON'T JUST RELY ON THE NAME, LOOK AT THE SIZES
But being 2 or more in a hammock is not the most comfortable thing, unless you are in love and want to cuddle.
Please make sure that the length of your hammock will fit in the distance between your trees or posts, or your hammock stand
FOR THE CARIBBEAN HAMMOCKS
String hammocks stretches more than fabric hammocks. Our Caribbean weatherproof hammocks can open up to 7 ft in width but are more comfortable at about 6 ft with smaller holes (micro weave), which is more than enough, even for the tallest, to lay at an angle.
3) WHO WILL USE IT
If your hammock is mainly used by children a fabric hammock is better and stronger (small fingers proof) than all string hammocks, except for the Caribbeans. Beware of jewels or any objects that can get hooked to the hammock and please, no shoes in a hammock. And remember that a hammock is not a swing nor a trampoline. Children should be supervised.
5) THE ORIGIN.
This subject is very important for me. Brazilian and Colombian hammocks and chairs are ethically made in those countries. A Brazilian STYLE hammock is usually made in China or India. I have visited shops in Colombia to verify that employees are well treated and that there were no kids working. (can you tell about China?)
DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD BAN PRODUCTS MADE WITH FORCED LABOR ?
The genocide of the Uyghurs people in the North of China has been known for many years. Since 85% of Chinas cotton production comes from the Xinjiang province with many proven cases of forced labour.
I REFUSE TO OFFER CHEAPER COTTON HAMMOCKS FROM CHINA. SHOULD'NT WE ALL DO THE SAME. ( LEARN MORE ) and ( MORE) and you can find many more references
YOU CAN SAVE MONEY, BUT AT WHAT COST ?
